The Brazos Valley Kennel Club (BVKC) is an all breed dog club licensed by the American Kennel Club (AKC). We are based in the Bryan/College Station, Texas area, but we welcome dog enthusiasts from throughout the Brazos Valley. We have diverse interests in terms of dog breeds, AKC events, and other activities relating to dogs. Our members own and show many of the AKC recognized breeds, AKC Miscellaneous Class Breeds, and the AKC Foundation Stock Service® Breeds --ranging from the popular Laborador Retriever to the unique Spinone Italiano. Although many of our members compete in Conformation events with their dogs, our members also enjoy Obedience, Rally, Agility, Weight pull, Therapy work, Canine Good Citizen, and many other events with their dogs. Our members who breed dogs do so in order to improve their breed's conformation, temperament, and genetic health. Our members are also involved in purebred rescue. We all come together with our diverse interests to enjoy the sport of owning purebred dogs.

As an all breed club, one of our main objectives is to further the advancement of all breeds of purebred dogs and the sport of purebred dogs. We also work to protect the interests of purebred dog fanciers in the Brazos Valley area and encourage sportsmanship at all dog events. In order to accomplish these goals, we are involved in many events throughout the year.

  • Prior to most monthly meetings, we host an educational program related to dogs. In the past, our programs have ranged from talks by representatives from other local dogs groups, screenings of dvds/videos about dogs, and seminars by veterinarians & other dog professionals.

  • During a weekend at the end of March and/or beginning of April every year, we hold two days of AKC-sanctioned dog shows offering Conformation, Junior Showmanship, Obedience, and Rally competitions. On the Saturday of the show weekend, we also have a B-OB Sanctioned Match (Conformation, Junior Showmanship, Rally & Obedience), which serves as a fun, practice competition for those new to AKC events or seeking more ring time for a younger dog.

  • We participate in several public education events in the Brazos Valley area.
  • We offer dog classes in Obedience & Conformation.
