Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How many breeds of dogs will I see at the Show?
A: The American Kennel Club registers more than 160 dog breeds, and has many dog breeds currently in the Miscellaneous Class status (last stage of recognition as a breed), AKC also provides Foundation Stock Service for many rare breeds. You might see any of these breeds at an AKC show/event.

Q: Can my dog participate in the Show?
A: If your purebred dog has an AKC registration number (155 registered breeds & 6 Miscellaneous breeds), it can be entered in any event at our Show. Purebred dogs (spayed/neutered) that are not eligible for an AKC registration number (usually purebreds adopted from shelters/rescues) may apply for an Indefinite Listing Priviledge (ILP) number and participate in Companion events (Obedience, Rally, etc.) at our show. Show events are currently not open to mixed breed dogs, but this is a measure being considered for the future (Companion events only). All dogs must be at least 6 months in order to enter in all Show events (Conformation, Obedience & Rally).

Q: What is a Sanctioned B-OB Match?
A: AKC Dog Matches are events at which no points awarded towards titles and come in three levels/flavors: A, B, and C. An "A Match" is the most formal of the three types and they are hosted by clubs working towards becoming AKC-licensed to hold Shows. These matches will require pre-registration and are run exactly like an AKC show. A "B Match" is a bit less formal, usually accepting pre-registration & on-site entries, and is hosted by AKC-licensed clubs and is Sanctioned by AKC. A "C Match" (also called a Show-n-Go) is the least formal type of match. Usually entries are accepted on-site only and the event is more catered to people working on training their dogs for competing in the AKC events with their dog(s). The "O" in A-OA or B-OB denotes that Obedience is also offered at this Match. Rally has been added to all of these types of Matches.

Q: Can my dog participate in the B-OB Match?
A: Any AKC-registered purebred dog/puppy who has not earned a Championship (CH) title may participate in Conformation at our Match. The Obedience portion is open to any purebred dog/puppy with an AKC registration or ILP/PAL number. All dogs must be at least 3 months in order to enter our Match. Be sure that your young pup is also fully vaccinated before bringing it to a public event with older dogs.
